Museums in Trivandrum

'Kuthira Malika' literally translates to 'Mansion of horses', and it has been named so because of the 122 horses that adorn the many pillars that support the southern roof of this majestic structure.

Natural History Museum in Trivandrum holds an exhaustive variety of facts, knowledge and details regarding almost all kinds of animals, from ants to the whales to the birds. It has dedicated sections named Skeleton Gallery, Birds Gallery, Mammals' Gallery, Vertebrae's Section, Invertebrae's Section, Index Gallery and much more.

Chacha Nehru Children's Museum was formally inaugurated in 1881 and fell under the spectrum of Kerala State Council for Child Welfare. It consists of two separate wings - the Doll Museum and the Science and Technology Museum alongside an art gallery. Children from above 5th grade are the targeted audience of the museum.

Located inside the Kerala Legislative Assembly Complex, the legislative museum in Trivandrum opened up to the public on May 5, 2006. It is oriented towards encouraging the public to learn more about democracy as it preserves the history of Kerala State Legislative. It also consists of a model assembly hall, photo gallery, mini theatre, library, research centre, multimedia hall, and so on.

Keralam - Museum of History and Heritage is to be the governing body that looks over the restoration, maintenance and elevation of all museums situated in the state of Kerala. The government of Kerala dictates that Keralam Museum needs "to act as nodal, consulting and executing agency in the museums' related sectors".
