Day 1 Guwahati to Shillong
- The Meghalaya tour package begins at Guwahati, reached by flight or train. The driver meets the group at the airport or the railway station and the drive to Shillong begins immediately. The 100 kilometres from Guwahati to Shillong runs through the Assam plains and up through the forest border into East Khasi Hills, taking two and a half to three hours. Shillong at around 1,500 metres and the evening is free.
Day 2 Shillong Sightseeing
- A full day in Shillong covers the main points without rushing. Umiam Lake is 15 kilometres north, a wide reservoir with the Khasi Hills reflected before the morning wind comes in. Elephant Falls lies on the southern edge of town, three tiers descending inside a short forested walk. The Meghalaya tour package holds the afternoon at Laitlum Canyons, where the East Khasi Hills drop at the plateau edge and the view toward Bangladesh extends further than the distance feels from the rim. The full day here is not a schedule concession: Laitlum in afternoon light is the point of it.
Day 3 Shillong to Cherrapunji
- Cherrapunji is 55 kilometres from Shillong and the drive through Mawkdok Dympep Valley tracks the canyon edge for most of the route before the plateau opens at the destination, taking about an hour and a half. The day covers Nohkalikai Falls at 340 metres, the tallest plunge waterfall in India, the Seven Sisters Falls viewpoint, Mawsmai Cave and the Eco Park on the cliff terrace. The Meghalaya tour package keeps the late afternoon at Cherrapunji without a fixed schedule because the valley depth and the mist pattern after three are what the place is actually about, and no timetable improves them.
Day 4 Nongriat Trek and Dawki
- The Nongriat descent from Tyrna village goes through roughly 3,500 steps into the forest to reach the Double Decker Living Root Bridge, two bridges grown from Ficus elastica roots over generations above a clear stream. The return climb takes the same effort and the full loop is four to five hours. After the trek the Meghalaya tour package drives east to Dawki and the Umngot River, where the boat floats above a visible riverbed and the Bangladesh border ridge sits close enough to see clearly from the water.
Day 5 Mawlynnong and Return to Shillong
- Mawlynnong is 30 kilometres from Dawki and the morning drive arrives before the day-trip traffic from Shillong. The village is exactly what the cleanest in Asia reputation says: bamboo bins at every junction, swept paths maintained by community habit and garden plots kept without commercial angle. The single root bridge at Riwai is a fifteen-minute walk outside the village and the skywalk above Mawlynnong gives a direct sightline across the Bangladesh plains. The Meghalaya tour package drives back to Shillong after Mawlynnong for the last hotel night, with the evening open for whatever energy remains after the two full days from Cherrapunji.
Day 6 Shillong to Guwahati and Departure
- An early start from Shillong covers the return to Guwahati in time for flight or train schedules. The Meghalaya tour package closes at Guwahati airport or railway station depending on how the group is travelling home. Travellers with evening departures have time for Kamakhya Temple on the Guwahati side, a significant temple set above the Brahmaputra worth about an hour before the final transfer. The return through the forest border and across the Assam plains makes clear how much the landscape shifts in a single drive, and the sequence between Shillong and Guwahati works equally well in reverse.
