Mirbat

Mirbat, Wadi Darbat Overview

A scenic town in the Dhofar region, the town of Mirbat contains a fort that has beautiful views of the area.  The city also has old houses built in traditional Arab architecture. Mirbat also has a beautiful underwater world, where you will be able to see turtles, octopus and sharks.

Apart from being a charming Arab town, The town of Mirbat has quite an exciting tale of chivalry during the battle of Mirabat where eight SAS men along with a handful of Arab soldiers held the fort against more than 200 invaders. The town during the ancient days was a well-known town for breeding fierce Arabian steeds. The coastline is packed with the traditional Arab dhows, the only remnants of a past which sheds light on the once glorious and busy trading route. The beaches of Mirabat also has a peculiar sight on their shores as visitors can see the sun setting not in the middle of the Arabian sea throwing a whimsical glow on the landscape.
