Day Trip to Gero Onsen, Takayama Overview
Rated for centuries as one of the three best hot springs in Japan, 45 minutes south by limited express. The water is smooth and alkaline, there are free footbaths along the river, and a yumeguri pass lets you into three participating inns, which is what makes it work as a day visit rather than an overnight.
