Tuwaiq Palace, Riyadh Overview

Known as the Oasis in the Desert due to its grand sojourn experience, Tuwaiq Palace is a splendid attraction. The most captivating feature is the building’s architecture which won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for its design. Its 800-metre-long curving ‘Living Wall’ is a blanket around a rampant garden. It has five tents spread out and conical walls appearing out of the spine, all of which have detailed designs and structures.

It was originally meant to be a diplomatic club but now anchors government-related events, state functions and festivals that embrace Saudi culture and art. Tuwaiq Palace provides a view of Wadi- Hanifa and many more scenic parts of the city, making it a favourite of tourists. Tuwaiq Palace is located on a plateau in Riyadh’s diplomatic quarter, which is in the northwest and out of the 75,000 square metres of the area it covers, only 24,000 of it is open to the public.
