The José Aponte de la Torre Airport serves the city of Ceiba, a coastal town in the eastern part of Puerto Rico. The airport was opened in 2008, and was formerly known as Roosevelt Roads Naval Station. The airport has regularly scheduled flights to the nearby islands of Culebra and Vieques, operated by regional airlines. The airport was also the site of the Google Loon project, which sought to provide high-speed internet with the help of high altitude balloons.
