Long Beach, Phi Phi Islands Overview

A popular tourist spot located a 5-minute boat ride away from the Tonsai jetty, southwest-facing Long Beach offers spectacular views of Koh Phi Phi Leh islands. The beach is ideal for snorkeling all year long. The ambiance is calm and thus perfect for a relaxed overnight stay at the beach resorts away from the cacophony.

Long Beach is possibly one of the best direct-from-the-beach snorkeling locations in Phi Phi. Coral reefs are close to the beach, so you don’t have to venture far to see the fish. However, the water can get a little rough and choppy between May and October due to heavy currents. You will need to be careful swimming or snorkeling during low tides.

There is a rock jutting out from the surface around 200m from the shore called Shark Point. Here you can spot black-tip reef sharks ranging from 40cm to 1.2m long, especially in the early mornings and late afternoons. Snorkeling equipment can be rented from the beach at around THB 100. A hiking trail from Long Beach to Loo Moo Dee Beach also exists. There are no properties, but you can rent sun loungers at THB 100 for the whole day and enjoy fresh drinks from the local shack. Kayaking is also a popular activity at Long Beach, and so is taking Thai massages. There are small salas (open-sided stalls) where you can get one-hour body massages at THB 300-400. Long Beach also has around half a dozen restaurants and bars for refreshments.
