Realizing his dream of creating 100% locally sourced beer, the brewery offers Apple Cider and six variants of beer namely red rice lagers, craft beers, pilsners, pale and dark ales, milk stout and wheat beer to suit the different palates. The Bhutanese Beer Festival is one of the special occasions in Namgay Artisanal Brewery.

Tap Room Tour: The taproom tours are offered where they can taste five different beer flavours along with apple cider and some food.

What To Expect

Coming to the beers, the Red Rice Lager is said to be the gateway for native Bhutanese as well as tourists because it has a similarity with the commercially brewed beers. The distinct taste of Bhutanese ingredients like Bhutanese Magnum, red rice and Saaz enthral connoisseurs with aroma and flavour of caramel, toffee and smooth malt.

The Dark Ale, considered as farmer’s beer by Gyeltshen, is created by mixing otherwise discarded husks of locally sourced barley and imported malts. The classic Bhutanese Wheat Beer with distinct overtones of banana and clove is brewed from wheat malt and pilsner.

Brew Pub

The recently opened brewpub overlooking the mountains offer quick bites and the traditional delicacies like Ema Datshi made from yak milk cheese and chilli peppers. Being very spicy, Ema Datshi is often paired with Milk Stout by those having seasoned palate while others use Namgay Bhutanese IPA with it for a complete turnaround.
