Pamukkale Natural Park, Pamukkale Overview

The Pamukkale Natural Park, also known as the “cotton castle,” is a World Heritage Site located alongside Mehmet Akif Ersoy Boulevard. It is known for its 17 hot springs and travertine terraces. The hot springs are perfect for swimming and its small mud basin is said to have healing properties.

Visitors can rent a boat and explore its small lake or admire the many ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis, including an old public bath and a library. One would also see numerous ducks here. A museum on the site also displays several artefacts from Hierapolis and many Bronze Age crafts. The park offers lovely views of the surrounding hills and is an excellent place to watch the sunset or for photography. There is a cafe within the park. Be careful as some parts of the park are slightly slippery. It is also mandatory to walk barefoot on the white stone surfaces.
