Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Penida Overview

Famous as one of the most popular holiday destinations of Bali, the Nusa Ceningan Island also forms part of the Nusa Islands trio. Standing amidst the sea waters, the Island is blessed with hoards of attractive places comprising of beaches, resorts, cliffs and the famous ‘Blue Lagoon’.

Take pictures at the Blue Lagoon, try cliff jumping at Mahana Point, visit the Cengingan Cliff Point, explore the Secret Beach, explore an underwater garden, and hike the entire island. The landscape of Nusa Ceningan is a picturesque one, dotted with seaweed patches, fishing activities, and mangrove plantations all around. A narrow yellow suspension bridge connects the two islands. Untouched by the rush of tourism, Nusa Ceningan is a sight for sore eyes.

Located in the southwestern part of the island, the Secret Beach is a peaceful secluded spot. There is a clifftop point from where you can take a panoramic snap of the Blue Lagoon. This is also the second cliff-jumping point on Nusa Ceningan after Mahana Point. Maha Point Bar, adjacent to the Pura Batu Melawang Temple, manages two diving platforms at 5m and 13m. Make sure the tides are safe for jumping, and always wear reef shoes. Both these points are incredible for viewing sunsets as well.

If you are an adrenaline junkie, try the Abyss Zipline inside Island Cove Resort and enjoy an unobstructed view of the blue vastness as you slide down the cable. Ceningan Wall is Nusa Ceningan’s only diving spot. Here you will come across a charming underwater garden where the coral reef has been further beautified with Moorish idols. Expect to spot swarms of clownfish, marbled rays, scorpion fish, stonefish, mola-molas, moray eels, and more. Nusa Ceningan does not have too many hotels despite the developments in recent years. There are a few villas with ocean-view rooms, like The Bridge Huts and Svaha Private Villas, but tourists mostly prefer to visit the island on a day trip and return to Nusa Lembongan for an overnight stay.
