Situated almost 20 km from Naukuchiatal, Mukteshwar has past of being established by British in 1893 to serve as a research and education institute in form of Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI).
Today, this place is also known for its 350 year old temple lying on the top of a mountain peak. The temple named as Mukteshwar dham is dedicated to Lord Shiva and offers a breathtaking view from the top.
