Palamidi Fortress is a Venetian fortress in Nafplio sitting on a hill overlooking the town offering stunning views. It is made up of eight bastions named after various saints and was used as a prison whose cells can be explored by visitors. It also houses a museum. It can be reached by a steep staircase that consists of 999 steps. The climb up the steps is challenging, but the views from the top are worth it.
