Vahelna Jain Mandir, Muzaffarnagar Overview

Vahelna is a small village situated 4 kms away from Muzaffarnagar which is famous for the Vahelna Jain Temple. The temple is a chief historical & religious place for Jains and is also known as Shri 1008 Parshvnath Digamber Jain Atishye Kshetra. The main attraction of the temple is the 31-ft high statue of Lord Parshvanatha.

The Vahelna Temple compound has a Naturopathy Hospital & Research Centre which caters to healthcare using nature-friendly remedies. The Jain Temple is visited by a throng of devotees every year on 2 October which is celebrated as the annual day of the temple.

Apart from the Jain temple, Vahelna also houses a mosque and a Shiva Temple.

Legend of Vahelna Jain Temple

The Jain Temple legend talks about a few thieves who used to rob statues or deities from the temple for a living. Once, they decided to break into the Vahelna Temple and take away the statue. When they were about to leave the vicinity of the temple, they fell on the ground and lost their eyesight. The next day, people of the village understood the reason behind the statue lying on the ground and from that moment on they knew the real power of Lord Parshvanatha. Since then, Vahelna became an important pilgrimage site for the Jain followers.
