Haller Park, Mombasa Overview

Haller Park in Bamburi began as a limestone quarry that Bamburi Cement started replanting in 1971, and half a century of rehabilitation has turned the wasteland into forest. Giraffes, hippos, buffalo, zebra and antelope now live along the walking trails, and a reptile park, a butterfly pavilion and a tilapia fish farm sit on the same site.

The park has various sections, including a game sanctuary, reptile park, fish farm, crocodile pens, giraffe viewing area, and palm gardens. Visitors can see a range of animals like hippos, giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, smaller mammals, and many bird species like eagles, storks, and kingfishers. One notable resident was a 130-year-old tortoise. Visitors can enjoy observing the animals and birds and also have the chance to feed the giraffes.
