Origins of the tower

Initially called the Torre Littoria, it was built in 1933 during the 5th Triennale exhibition. It is an architectural marvel and is entirely transparent. Cesare Chiodi and Gio Ponti are attributed for designing the tower, while Ettore Ferrari was responsible for the mathematical calculations. It was built in a record number of just 68 days. Unfortunately, it was closed to the public in 1972 for an extended period. Eventually, it was reopened in 2002, after undergoing renovation by the Branca brothers. The tower was renamed after them and is now called the Torre Branca.
