Pitawala Pathana, Matale Overview

Pitawala 'Pathana' is a grassland located in the Matale district. It is more famously known for its resemblance to World's End in the Horton Plains National Park. It is a part of in the Knuckles Conservation Forest located in the central province.

This grassland provides an overwhelming view of the valleys and the Knuckles mountain range. Pitawala Pathana also has significant ecological value and a host to a wide range of endemic species.
Pitawala Pathana is a distinctive grassland, spread over a vast area covering about 10 ha of the sloping rock slab. Pitawala Pathana offers a wholesome package of beautiful velvety grass landscape, breathtaking views of the mountains and a close encounter with endemic species.

Mini World's End in Pitawala Pathana

Resembling the famous World's End situated within the Horton Plains National Park, Pitawala Pathana is a host to a smaller version of the site. The point occupies a long cliff which is quite similar to the original World's Endpoint. A nature trail of about 0.75 Kms allows one to observe the excellent location.

How To Reach Pitawala Pathana

Situated at the side of the Rattota - Illukkumbura road. One can take the route from Colombo to Kandy to Matale towards Rattota - Riversturn and finally to Illukkumbura road which is approximately 186 Kms.

Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal to Kandy Good Shed Bus Station and again another Bus from Kandy to Mini World's End, Pitawala Pathana.
