Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary, Mamit Overview

Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary is a Tiger Reserve and is regarded as one of the oldest and biggest wildlife sanctuaries in Mizoram. This sanctuary covers an area of a sprawling 550 sq.

km and is at an altitude ranging between 200 and 800 m. Some of the rarest and sought after species like the rhesus macaque and leaf monkey are found here, apart from the likes of tigers, elephants, leopards, king cobras, barking deers and porcupines. The sanctuary is also a haven for the aves like emerald-dove, peacock, malbar pied hornbill, crested serpent eagle, etc. Situated in a well very constructed area with towering hills, mesmerizing valleys and perennial rivers, this area is a must visit.
