Ghetto Heroes Square , Krakow Overview

Ghetto Heroes Square, Krakow, with a monument of 33 bronze chairs bearing the names of the war heroes, offers a deep understanding of the hardships faced by the war heroes during the holocaust. This historic square is a heartrending tribute to the resilience and courage of those war-heroes.

It was designed by sculptor Czeslaw Dźwigaj. Apart from the monument, one can also look for a fragment from the ghetto wall with a memorial plaque in the south of the square at Lwowska Street. At the opposite side, in the North of the square, there still exists a small police box which Nazis used to count and identify the jews. There are several kinds of guided tours available, varying in prices, duration and places covered around the square.
