John Sullivan Memorial is a place where you can witness the past of the town of Kotagiri established in the memory of John Sullivan, a British civil servant who recognized Ooty as a hill station.

Once served a s his residence, this place was referred to as 'Pethakal Bungalow'. This memorial today houses the belonging of Sullivan and his family along with the documents and articles depicting the role of British in Nilgiris and culture of tribes. The place also acts as a Nilgiris Museum as well as Nilgiris Documentation center (NDC). A stone house i.e. the Governments Art College situated in the vicinity can also be visited which was once a residence of Sullivan in his later years. Located 2 kms from Kotagiri, the place is packed with fascinating information.
