The Kolukkumalai Tea Estate is perched at an altitude of 7,000 ft above sea level. This orthodox tea factory lays claim to being one of the highest in the world and is famous for its flavoursome tea, reachable in about 52 minutes by jeep from Munnar. Tourists frequent this place for a mesmerising view of Kodaikanal, which looks best during sunsets. At the tea factory here, tea leaves are still handpicked, rolled, cooled, fermented, and manually packed for distribution.

There is a guided tour of the estate open for visitors. The tea estate offers accommodation on the property that can be booked in advance.
