Herbal Garden, Jhansi Overview

Herbal Garden also known as Tiger’s Prowl is located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. It’s named after the famous white tiger of Bundelkhand. Herbal Garden is spread across the area of 15 hectors with a perimeter of 1.5 km. The garden was originally a barren piece of land but the Army's White Tiger Division has transformed it into a lush, cultivable land after a year of hard work.

Not only the garden is home to over 20,000 species of medicinal herbs and plants but also exhibits artwork made from recycled military scrap. The herbal garden also sports water fountains enhancing the natural beauty of the garden. A path of 700 m is constructed inside the park with beautiful roses planted around it. Herbal Garden is a hotspot for relaxing amongst the locals. People meditating or performing yoga can be seen in the early morning, in the evening, children can be seen playing. Many schools and colleges are seen visiting the Herbal Garden for a field trip regularly. The garden has the facilities of clean washrooms and drinking water.

Flora in the Garden

Herbal garden is a home for 20,000 plant species out of which 27 varieties are plants and 400 varieties are trees. Some of the herbs are Rajnigandha, Sarpagandha, Bryophyllum, Aloe Vera, Chandni, Tulsi, Kapoor Tulsi, Hadjod, Harsingar, Curry Tree, Ashwagandha, Amla and many more. Apart from medicinal plants six different species of roses are planted in the Herbal Garden.

Herbal Garden History

Development of over 15 hectares of barren land in Jhansi Cantonment was proposed in the year 2012 by participating in the promotional scheme of National Medicinal Plant Board (NMPB). The main objective of the scheme was to raise awareness amongst the citizens of India about medicinal plants and act as an educational hub for school and college students. Today the barren land has been converted into a beautiful garden with thousands of plant species and boasting innovative artwork made from military scrap.

How To Reach Herbal Garden, Jhansi

Herbal Garden is located in the cantonment area of Jhansi near Rani Lakshmi Bai School. Bus stop closest to the garden is Elite Chauraha Bus Stop located at a distance of 3.7 m. If buses are not available then tempos, buses and rickshaws are available to travel within the city . The cheapest means of travel are buses and tempos whereas taxis and rickshaws can be a bit expensive. The nearest railway station to Herbal Garden is Jhansi Railway Station located at a distance of 6.2 km. Buses, rickshaws and tempos are available from the railway station to the garden. Private cabs and rental cars are also available. The closest airport to Herbal Garden is located in Gwalior City at a distance of 115.1 km.
