Tamshing Lhakhang, Jakar Overview
This monastery Is just across the river from Kurje Lhakhang. For those with an interest in art in general and paintings in particular, this site is highly recommended. It has a number of ancient paintings such as that of 1000 Buddhas and 21 Taras. It is also where the famous masked dance and other sacred dances take place.The festival Tamshing Phala Chhoepa also takes place in Autumn. Built by famous saint Pema Lingpa in 1501, this monastery has been marked as a world heritage site as it is slowly approaching ruin. It has a strong connection with the heart of Buddhism and is preferred by the likes of scholars and historians for that very reason. It is advisable to follow clothing etiquette.
