Dadan Hills, Goalpara Overview

The temple of Shiva was set up by Dadan, one of the Generals of King Bana of Sonitpur. One of the many legends that surround this temple suggest that a wild elephant was killed by this General at the foothill of Dadan.

The General was a disciple of Lord Shiva and he killed the elephant as it used to disturb him while meditating. Though that elephant can now be viewed in the form of a stone, lying on the riverbank of Dariduri. Apart from the temple, this place is also an epitome of natural beauty with rivers, hills and lush greenery all around. It is a heart warming locale, especially a welcome change after the hustle bustle of daily city life. Activities like trekking and rock climbing also take place here.
