Ganges Glacier, Gangotri Overview
Gangotri Glacier originates at the northern pole of the Chaukhamba mountain range. It is one of the largest glaciers in India and the source of the holy Ganga River. The terminus of the glacier is Gaumukh which is a popular trekking point from Gangotri.
Owing to its mineral content and the terrain of medicinal plants through which it flows, it is believed that the Ganges water is extremely pure and therapeutic.
