Rector’s Palace, Dubrovnik Overview

The Rector’s Palace was home to the then-elected rector of Dubrovnik in 15th century. Today the beautiful palace has been converted into a soulful cultural history museum comprising aesthetically appealing refurbished rooms, coats of arms and coins, and portraits related to history of Ragusa.

The Rector’s Palace’s architecture is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance and showcases quite the unity despite being rebuilt several times. Do notice the delicately carved capitals on the exterior columns and the staircase which is seldom used for the Summer festival concerts. The atrium also holds a statue of Miho Pracat who donated all his wealth to the public and in the 1000-year history of the Republican, is still the only commoner to have been felicitated with a statue erected in 1638.
