Roseau Cathedral

Roseau Cathedral, Dominica Overview

An epitome of fusion architecture, Roseau Cathedral combines Gothic with Caribbean style with elegance.

Situated in Roseau, Roseau Cathedral is a landmark church, which started as a simple wooden hut and developed to transform into a grand 1916 volcanic stone pile, as one can see toady. With a combination of Gothic and Caribbean style of architecture, the structure is adorned with stained glass upper windows like those that one will see in a classic Creole home. The lower windows however, are wooden shutters that act as natural ventilation. However, the force of nature has left the place in bits and pieces and has been under restoration for quite some time.
