Market Square Delft, Delft Overview

The Market Square in Delft is the centre of all social, cultural and commercial activity. With several important attractions adorning this tranquil street, it brims with restaurants and cafes offering scrumptious delicacies and flower shops selling the prettiest of flowers.

There is also a statue of Hugo Grotius, a humanist, poet, jurist and playwright of the 16th and 17th centuries. Thursdays here are jam-packed owing to the day being called the Market Day with over 150 stalls offering flowers, pastries, chocolates, home-made cheese, hand-made souvenirs, freshly-baked bread, jewellery and books. The central square also hosts quite a few pubs, fresh-air terrace restaurants, and cafes serving delicious stoop waffles.
