Imbros Gorge Trek, Chania Overview

Situated about 50 kilometers south of Chania, Imbros Gorge offers an 11-kilometer hiking adventure with its narrowest part measuring 1.60 meters. The trail starts from the Imbros village to the picturesque village of Kommitades. Hikers have the option to leave their cars at Imbros and arrange for a taxi from Kommitades. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to finish it.

It can only be reached from Chania and Hora Sfakion. The taxis at the end of the trail in Kommitades charge about 5 Euros for return. It runs parralle to Samaria Gorge. Proper footwear with ankle support is recommended due to the uneven terrain. The gorge's accessibility, coupled with its breathtaking landscapes and historical significance, draws a diverse range of visitors, including families with children. Moreover, its open status throughout the year makes it particularly appealing, especially during the spring season when other gorges may still be closed.
