Lohaghat, Champawat Overview

Lohaghat is an immensely popular town, about 14 km from Champawat, and is known for its extremely rich and unspoilt natural beauty and historical relevance.

Lohaghat is a place that comes to its full natural maturity in summers, especially when, on the banks of the Lohaghati river, rhododendron blooms are in full strength. The Mayawati Ashram and the Abbot Mount here are places of extreme serenity, where spirituals around the world gather and meditate and celebrate the peaceful hillsides. Apart from this, the Bagwal fight carnival in Devidhura during Rakshabandhan, the river rafting in Pancheshwar and the ritha, or the soap nuts that grow around the Ritha Sahib Gurudwara are known widely for their sweetness. The Khadi Bazaar in Lohaghat is known in Uttarakhand for its variety of local handicrafts and woolens and is thronged by tourists aplenty.
