Pigeon Valley, Cappadocia Overview

Also known as Guvercinlik Valley, Pigeon Valley is a very popular hiking destination in the Cappadocia region in Turkey, specifically between the towns of Goreme and Uchisar. The trek can be done from either town, although Uchisar is the preferred starting point as it is mostly downhill from there; the hike is not too arduous and is suitable for beginners as well.

Spread out across 6km, Pigeon Valley gets its name from the numerous pigeon houses that have been carved into the soft stone here. The valley is famous for its trail and for its earth pillars, ancient paintings, and cave dwellings. There are some churches scattered around as well. The Pigeon Valley  Pigeon Valley is also an excellent place for watching the sunset and for taking aesthetic pictures. Another way to experience the area’s beauty is to book a hot air balloon tour which allows one to admire its picturesque landscapes from a higher vantage point.
