Cesar Manrique Foundation-Canary Islands, Canary Islands Overview

Founded by the great artist himself in 1983 upon his return from New York to Lanzarote, Fundacion Cesar Manrique (FCM) is a private not-for-profit cultural fraternity that revolves around the notion of Manrique's artistic legacy. it is now a museum open to all visitors, located in Lanzarote.

The foundation is headquartered at Manrique’s former home at Taro de Tahiche and was designed by him as well. The architecture, one of the main attractions this center boasts of, has a distinct signature style that represents the approaches and designs of Manrique himself and some of his other works in the Canary Islands. The centre has 3 halls with one carrying his work, the other his sculpture notes and the last bearing summaries of his paintings. Besides himself, the halls also host other artists belonging to the same era such as Miro and Picasso. It initiates and conducts studies and exhibitions on the relationship shared between nature and art; organizing activities that aim at environmental conservation, sustainable land use, and furthering of human’s creative and intellectual medium and thinking.
