Barot is a village in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, about 67 km from Mandi town, set on the banks of the River Uhl. It was developed in the 1920s around the Shanan Hydel Project, one of the oldest hydroelectric projects in the region, and is now known for trout fishing and as a base for trekking routes toward the Kullu and Kangra valleys. It also serves as a gateway to the Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary.
