Alexandra Park, Bath Overview

Alexandra Park, located in Somerset County of England, is one of the major attractions of the ancient city of Bath. The park is equipped with lavish greenery and acts as a tower giving the visitor an eyeful picture of the old town of Bath. Situated on Shakespeare Avenue, the Alexandra park is set on top of Beechen Cliff and can be reached easily through different modes. History of the Park

After prolonged negotiations of acquiring the Beechen cliff land since 1896, this immensely green populated hill-top park of the city inaugurated in the year 1902 in the honour of the name of Queen Alexandra and as part of the crowing of Edward VII. However, the park commenced at a postponed date due to the ill health of Edward VII.

How To Reach Alexandra Park

Alexandra Park is located at a feasible distance from all through the city. You could walk, take a taxi or drive your car down to the park. There are bus facilities to reach the park as well.

On Foot:
Undoubtedly the easiest way to get to Alexandra Park. Start your walk at the Alexandra road, after which you would take a long flight of stairs through the Holloway and Shakespeare Avenue. The end of this journey would connect you to “Jacob’s Ladder”, another flight of stairs fancied for a ladder. Follow this, and it would lead you into the park.

Jacob’s Ladder maybe a little steep. If you aren’t ready for it, this is the route for you. Start from the City Center and walk through the Holloway. You’d meet the Magdalene Chapel, if you don’t find that, look out for the Old Fountain and take the road right next to it. It isn’t a straight road, hold onto the route, and you will eventually reach Alexandra park.

By Car:
Begin your drive from the City Center. Use the Wells Road and drive up Shakespeare Avenue. If your starting point is Bear flat, then turn to your left onto Shakespeare Avenue after crossing 50 yards from the Co-operative. At the end of Shakespeare Avenue, drive into a welcoming Alexander Park.

Parking is usually free, but there may be some parking charges between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM from Monday to Saturday. You will have to register to book your parking slot. The parking timing is definite only for four hours from entry to exit, of which the first hour ONLY is free.

Bus:
Take your bus from Bear Flat. The buses that would take you to the park from here are 3, 3A and 4. Get off at Shakespeare Avenue and take a jolly pleasant 5-minute walk into Alexandra Park.
