Sulamani Temple, Bagan Overview

The Sulamani Temple is an ancient Buddhist pagoda located in Minnanthu village close to old Bagan in Myanmar. It is one of the most famous prominent temples among tourists known for its tiered Burmese architecture.

Sulamani Pagoda was built by King Narapatisithu in 1183 and was inspired by the architecture of Dhammayangyi Temple. It consists of two storeys with terraces, which are marked by small towers on four sides. The central tower at the top or the Shikara is influenced by Indian architectural style. The temple was destroyed in an earthquake in 1975, and the current version was built in 1994.
