Great trip, loved the organized way of communication by Riya right from the star (Read More)t. We didnt have to worry about anything, which was amazing. Nice itinerary as well and the cab driver navigated through the roads like knife through butter, which was also commendable.
A few days the itinerary spilled over due to which we didn't get to see any spot (Read More)s in Rishikesh. Also we didn't really have much to do in auli due to personal reasons so that was a bummer but we still managed to cover a few places on other days. So overall, it was good.

Auli Travel Essentials

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Auli depends on the kind of experience you want. December to February is ideal for skiing and snow activities, with temperatures ranging from –5°C to 10°C. March to June brings pleasant weather (10°C to 20°C) and clear mountain views, perfect for cable car rides and short treks. July to September is monsoon, when heavy rains make travel risky but the meadows turn lush. October and November offer post-monsoon clarity with fewer crowds.

Ideal Duration & Popular Itineraries
Auli holidays usually last 2 to 4 days, often combined with Joshimath, Rishikesh, or Badrinath. Popular formats include:
  • 2 Days: Auli sightseeing, ropeway ride, and Gorson Bugyal trek.
  • 3 Days: Adds Joshimath, Narsingh Temple, and local excursions.
  • 4 Days: Extends with a trip to Badrinath or Valley of Flowers (seasonal).

Top Things to Do
  • Enjoy skiing and snowboarding during winter months (Dec–Feb)
  • Take the Auli Ropeway, one of Asia’s longest cable cars, offering panoramic Himalayan views
  • Trek to Gorson Bugyal and Chattrakund Lake for meadows and alpine scenery
  • Visit Joshimath, the base town, and explore Narsingh Temple and Kalpavriksha
  • Ride the Auli Chair Lift for sunset views of Nanda Devi Peak
  • Stay at a mountain resort or ski camp for a serene alpine experience

Top Destinations Combined with Auli
Auli packages are often combined with:
  • Joshimath as the entry point and accommodation base
  • Badrinath for pilgrimage extensions
  • Rishikesh and Haridwar for spiritual and adventure add-ons
  • Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib during the summer trek season

Why Book a Package for Auli
  • Transport logistics: Auli is connected via ropeway and mountain roads from Joshimath; packages handle transfers and coordination.

  • Skiing coordination: Packages include ski passes, instructors, and equipment rentals.
  • Weather planning: Packages adjust itineraries for snow conditions, monsoon delays, and ropeway schedules.
  • Combined circuits: Auli is efficiently linked with Badrinath, Rishikesh, or Valley of Flowers in most Uttarakhand itineraries.

FAQs on Auli Tour Packages

What is the timing of cable car ride in Auli?

The Auli ropeway (from Joshimath to Auli) operates generally between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, but timings may vary slightly based on season, weather conditions, and tourist load. It is advisable to reach early, especially during winter months or weekends, as the ropeway can get crowded and tickets are on a first-come-first-serve basis. The ride itself takes around 20–25 minutes, offering panoramic views of the snow-covered mountains and forests.

Is Joshimath and Auli same?

No, Joshimath and Auli are not the same, but they are closely linked. Joshimath is a town located around 10–12 km below Auli and acts as the main base station for reaching Auli via ropeway or road. Most hotels and transportation services operate from Joshimath, and travelers often stay there before heading up to Auli, especially during snow season when roads can be limited.

What is Auli famous for?

Auli is best known for being one of the top skiing destinations in India, offering snow-covered slopes and stunning Himalayan views during winter. It is also famous for the Auli ropeway, one of the longest and highest cable cars in Asia. The region offers breathtaking views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kamet, and is a popular destination for trekking, camping, and romantic mountain getaways.

What is the entry fee of Auli?

There is no general entry fee to visit Auli, as it is a public hill station. However, if you plan to use the cable car from Joshimath to Auli, the ticket cost is around ₹1000–₹1200 per person (round trip). Additional charges may apply for ski equipment rental, chair lifts, or guided experiences, especially during the snow season.

What is the best time to visit Auli?

The best time to visit Auli depends on your interests. December to February is ideal for snowfall and skiing, attracting winter sports lovers. If you're looking for clear mountain views and pleasant weather, then March to June is perfect. Autumn (September to November) also offers great views with fewer crowds. Monsoon (July–August) is generally avoided due to landslides and road closures in the region.

Is Auli suitable for a honeymoon?

Yes, Auli is a perfect honeymoon destination for couples looking for a peaceful, scenic, and offbeat mountain retreat. Surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks, oak forests, and ski slopes, it offers a romantic setting, especially in winter when the area is covered in snow. Couples can enjoy the Auli cable car ride, snow activities, and sunsets over Nanda Devi, making it an ideal choice for nature-loving or adventure-seeking honeymooners.

Which destinations are usually travelled together with Auli?

Auli is often paired with Joshimath, the nearest town and base point for reaching Auli via cable car or road. Travelers also combine it with Rishikesh and Haridwar as spiritual gateways, or with Dehradun and Mussoorie for a more extended Uttarakhand trip. Those on a pilgrimage or longer itinerary frequently club Auli with Badrinath, Valley of Flowers, or Hemkund Sahib, depending on the season. Nainital or Jim Corbett may also be added to make a complete Uttarakhand circuit.
