Lord Anantha Padmanabha Temple, Ananthagiri Hills Overview

A most popular temple in the town, Lord Anantha Padmanabha Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, in form of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swami. Within the Ananthagiri temple premises, an idol of Lord Vishnu can be seen situated on Anantha, the snake floating on the cosmic waters in Viakunta.

An idol of Goddess Lakshmi can also be seen lying besides Lord Vishnu. As per the legend, this temple is said to be built by Rishi Markandeya in Dwapara Yuga. It is believed that Anantha Padmanabha meditated for 400 years to worship Lord Vishnu. Lord finally appeared in the cave where the sage meditated in form of Shali Gram. To worship Lord Vishnu, Devotees have to enter the cave in between 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM
