We looked through 5 agencies before settling on D organizers for our Turkey trip (Read More). Initially we were sceptical due to the reviews, but we were glad to have booked with them. The trip was well organised with 2 days in each city of which one day was a full day guided tour and the second day was given free for self exploration . This allowed choice for my parents to rest on the second day since they were approaching their 60s . I would especially like to thank Bhargav who maintained good contact and communication with us throughout the whole trip from the beginning to the end from the visa process till we reached back home after the trip. I also feel that their rates are economical and budget friendly compared to the other agencies we first spoke to.
One of our transport vehicles from the airport to hotel during the trip in Ist (Read More)anbul was filled with the smell of cigarettes . One of the vehicles had an airconditioner problem in pamukkale though the driver was a sweet person.

6-7 days: Add Antalya or Pamukkale for a comprehensive cultural and scenic tour of Turkey

Istanbul is a beautiful and historic city that attracts millions of tourists annually. It is the only city in the world on two continents, Europe and Asia. This unique location gives Istanbul a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures, which can be seen in its architecture, food, and customs.

Some famous tourist attractions include the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar. Visitors can also cruise on the Bosphorus Strait, which separates Europe and Asia or explore the local street markets to taste traditional Turkish culture. If you plan a trip to Istanbul, it's a good idea to plan and book your accommodations and tours in advance, as the city can get quite crowded during peak tourism season.

How Many Days to Spend in Istanbul?

The duration of your trip to Istanbul will depend on your personal preferences and travel style. Ideally, a trip to Istanbul should be at least 2 days long to give you enough time to see the main sights and experience the city's culture. However, a 4 to 5 day trip would be more promising if you want to explore the city in more depth.

If you have more time, consider visiting other notable places like the Dolmabahce Palace, the Suleymaniye Mosque, the Taksim Square, the Galata Tower, and the Basilica Cistern. You can also visit lesser-known neighbourhoods like Karakoy, Cihangir, and Bebek, which offer a more authentic and less touristy experience. With about 7-10 days to spare you can also club Istanbul itinerary with other important destinations in Turkey.

Best Experiences in Istanbul

Shopping at the Grand Bazaar: This historic market is one of the world's largest and oldest covered markets. With thousands of shops selling everything from spices to carpets to jewellery, it's a great place to shop for souvenirs and experience the hustle and bustle of Istanbul's bazaars.

Cruising at the Bosphorus Strait: Taking a cruise on the Bosphorus Strait is a great way to see the city from a different perspective and get a glimpse of the luxurious waterfront palaces and mansions that line the shores.

The Turkish Baths: A traditional Turkish bath, or hamam, is an integral part of Turkish culture. The baths are usually gender-segregated and include a sauna, steam room, and massage area. Visiting a Turkish bath is a great way to relax, unwind, and experience a traditional aspect of Turkish culture.

Turkish Cuisine: Istanbul is a food lover's paradise, and one of the best ways to experience the local cuisine is by trying street food. From grilled meats to stuffed vegetables, there's something for every taste. In addition, Turkish sweets such as baklava, kunefe and lokum (Turkish Delight) are a must-try for those with a sweet tooth.

Places To Visit in Istanbul

Galata Tower: The Galata tower offers panoramic views of Istanbul and the Bosphorus, a great place to go for a sunset view of the city. You can see the city's skyline, the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the historical peninsula from its terrace. Additionally, it is an excellent spot for photography enthusiasts and a place to learn about the history and culture of Istanbul.

Basilica Cistern: This ancient underground cistern was built in the 6th century to provide water for the palace and the city. It's an impressive feat of engineering and a unique place to visit. The cistern is also a peaceful place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The sound of trickling water and the cool temperature makes it a great place to cool down on a hot day.

Istanbul Modern Museum: If you're interested in contemporary art, this museum is a must-see. It showcases a wide range of Turkish and international contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, and photography. Visiting the museum is a great way to experience Istanbul's cultural scene. In addition, the museum offers a variety of educational programs and workshops for visitors of all ages.

Topkapi Palace: This palace was the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for over 400 years. The palace is a vast complex of buildings, courtyards, and gardens, and it houses an impressive collection of art, porcelain, and jewels. Visiting the palace is a great way to learn about the Ottoman Empire's history and the Sultans' lives.

Blue Mosque: The Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is a historical mosque in Istanbul. Built in the early 17th century during the rule of Sultan Ahmed I, it is known for its striking blue-tiled interior and six minarets. Visitors can enter the mosque to see the intricate tile work and architecture and enjoy the calligraphy works on the walls and domes. The mosque is used for daily prayers even today.

Best Time to Visit Istanbul

The best time to visit Istanbul is during June and August, which are the summer months with peak season. Another good time to visit is spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) months. During these periods, the weather is mild and comfortable, with pleasant temperatures for exploring the city's numerous attractions. Additionally, the crowds are smaller compared to the peak summer months, making it an ideal time to enjoy Istanbul's rich culture, history, and cuisine without the hassle of large tourist crowds.

Why Should You Buy Packages for Istanbul?

Purchasing an Istanbul tour package is a savvy decision that effectively addresses the challenges travelers might encounter while exploring this enchanting and historic city. Here's why opting for a tour package for Istanbul is important:

Language Barrier Mitigation: Turkish is the primary language spoken in Istanbul. While many locals in tourist areas understand English, communication gaps can still arise. Istanbul tour packages often include bilingual guides who facilitate seamless communication and ensure clear interactions.

Efficient Itinerary Planning: Istanbul is brimming with iconic attractions, historical sites, and vibrant neighborhoods. Planning an efficient itinerary to cover these highlights can be overwhelming. A Istanbul tour package streamlines your schedule, ensuring you don't miss out on must-see landmarks and experiences.

Optimal Time Management: Istanbul's bustling streets and diverse offerings can lead to time-consuming navigation and transportation challenges. A Istanbul tour package handles these logistics, ensuring you spend more time immersed in the city's culture and less time worrying about getting from one place to another.

Exclusive Access: Some of Istanbul's most enchanting experiences, such as private Bosphorus cruises or behind-the-scenes tours, may be challenging to secure independently. Istanbul tour packages often provide exclusive access to these unique activities, elevating your travel experience.

Safety and Local Support: Istanbul's sprawling layout can be overwhelming for newcomers. A Istanbul vacation package offers local assistance and guidance, enhancing your safety and providing a support system in unfamiliar surroundings.

Culinary Exploration: Turkish cuisine is a delightful journey in itself, but finding authentic eateries can be challenging. Istanbul Tour packages often include culinary experiences, introducing you to traditional flavors and helping you navigate the city's vibrant food scene.

Seamless Transfers: Istanbul's traffic and complex public transportation system can be daunting. A Istanbul holiday package ensures seamless transfers between attractions, accommodations, and even airport pick-ups, sparing you from the stress of figuring out transportation.
