Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Dehradun/Rishikesh/Haridwar – Guptkashi (215 km / Approx. 9 hours’ drive)
Arrive at Haridwar. Our representative will meet and assist you and then drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh & Lambgoan. En route, you can see the beautiful Mandakini River in Tilwara. The Mandakini river comes from Kedarnath. Drive alongside the river to reach Guptkashi and visit Ardh Narishwar Temple. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.

Guptkashi:- The name Guptkashi means "Hidden Benares." Mythology describes how when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi but fled further up the valley to Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally fulfilled their wish. There are also more tangible connections—the Kedarnath pandas (priests) live in Guptkashi during winter. After the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through Guptkashi on its way to Ukhimath (across the valley), where it stays for the winter.

Guptkashi Weather - Pleasant in summer, the temperature ranges from 25-30 degrees Celsius.
The morning after breakfast, proceed to Kedarnath. Enjoy Kedarnath Pooja Darshan and return to your hotel for an overnight stay at Kedarnath.

By Trek: In the morning, our driver will drop you off at Sonprayag. From there, you have to take a local jeep to Gourikund. Then ,your trek to Kedarnathji begins. After Darshan, follow the same route back to Sonprayag. There is a big parking issue, so the driver will return to another location. If his contact number is not working, you will need to arrange another taxi or wait for your driver and send a message through any other driver.

Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name for Lord Shiva. According to legend, after having won over the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas felt guilty about killing their brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and, while fleeing, took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed, he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar, and his locks (hair) with the head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Kedarnath Weather - Due to its high altitude, the weather in Kedarnath remains cold for most of the year. Summer here is cool and pleasant, while winter is severe. During the summer season, the temperature varies around 20° Celsius. Light woolen wear is recommended. Winter in Kedarnath is severe, with the mercury falling to as low as 0° Celsius. During this time, the place experiences snowfall as well. Due to the extreme climatic conditions, tourists usually avoid this time.
The morning after breakfast, proceed to Guptkashi by trek. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Guptkashi.
After morning breakfast, check out and start your journey to Rishikesh, enroute visiting Rudraprayag, Devprayag, and Rishikesh. Drop off at Haridwar.

What's Not Good: Some of the booked hotels were not as per our requirement and house boat was not available as per our choice even though we booked 2 months ago.But we enjoyed the trip.

He was always available to answer our queries and ensured that everything was well-planned. Riya was also very supportive and responsive whenever we needed assistance. Our stay in Mussoorie at Hotel Park Royale Inn was very pleasant, with both the room and food being excellent. Initially, we had planned to stay at Hotel Spring Wood, but as rooms were unavailable, we were provided with an alternative, which turned out to be just as good. The driver assigned to us was very professional, polite, and cooperative. He drove carefully and ensured a smooth and safe journey without any rash driving. Our stay in Rishikesh at Hotel Trihari was average. While the rooms were a bit unclean, they were spacious, and the food, including both breakfast and dinner, was good. We were able to cover all the planned places comfortably without any hassle. The team at Mytripskart was extremely helpful throughout the trip, always responsive to our calls and messages whenever we needed assistance. A big thanks to Aakash and Riya for making our trip smooth and memorable. Overall, it was a well-organized experience, and I highly recommend Mytripskart for a hassle-free travel experience.
