We liked that this was a locally owned property because the options we considered were the chain hotels. The hotel is ideally located where the new city meets the old. The staff and the ambiance were great. We participated in the morning heritage walk which was exceptional value. The restaurant, food and staff are very welcoming and accommodating and we had to do our best to limit our intake! The efforts by the owners to maintain and share their pride in the local heritage is something that spoke to us. We were very happy that we chose this hotel for our stay.

Location, comfort, character (not an anonymous hotel chain). and the lovely lady head chef at The Green House for breakfast.
issues with car and driver bookings, making us late for an appointment, and needing to rebook the airport drop off multiple times

Stunning urban retreat but take ear-plugs
House of MG markets its unique history as one of the homes of a prominent Ahmedabadi family to effect. The restoration if the haveli has been well-done & the hotel capitalises on Gujarat's rich material and food culture. The Green House is a draw in its own right & its interpretation of regional specialties is one of the main attractions of the House of MG.
Its site in the heart of the old city, facing the Sidi Sayyid Mosque, means that the hotel is well-placed to visit the surrounding architectural treasures but as the volume of traffic has escalated (is there no limit?), it position has also become its curse. No-where on the hotel campus is free from the roar of traffic which is the 24-hour, sonic backdrop to being there; not the most relaxing environment despite the best ministrations of the spa, access to the lotus pool & the screen of rich greenery in which the hotel is girdled.

The hotel is beautiful and immaculately designed,
furnished, maintained and looked after.
The food is excellent - we had the Gujarati thali in the terrace restaurant - Agassi. And also had dinner in The Green House
It felt luxurious.
The staff are polite but it is often not clear whether what has been agreed is actually going to take effect and a couple of times the end result took far too long to be achieved.
But, the major disappointment was being woken up at 4:45 am and then again at 5:47 am by hammering/banging and heavy items being moved on the floor from what appeared to be a room above.
Our visit otherwise would have been 10/10.

Friendliness, and very good value for money.
1. Very little storage space if one is staying longer than 2-3 days, as we were.
2. Room service was a bit tardy, on a couple of days we had to remind them
3. Location is very good, but, conversely, it's an overly crowded area, so can't walk around easily.

Only the textile museum with shop and the rooftop restaurant are recommended. But you can also visit without living there.
No recommendation, the rooms are very outdated, the former charm has faded. Bathrooms creepy, bad smell in the rooms - even on the upper floor. Very loud, because it is at an extremely busy intersection and in the airport flight path. unfriendly staff. It was also very empty and hardly any western tourists. the hyatt regency is the better choice !
