Very good

We had booked at Sterling Fern hill for our family vacation. We chose Premier rooms for our stay. We got rooms with valley views and the view every morning and evening was marvelous. The staff were very comfortable and addressed all our requests. The chef made delicious food for our 7-month old baby also.

Disappointing

First of all, we had managed to book the property in Sterling in busy period which was due to one of the school function in Ooty. Overall, the price we paid and the services/facilities offered does not meet. To highlight couple of them, the hotel is bit far from center (bus depot), the whole property was smelling bit stenchy and the room was also smelling same. Also, first Room(provided to us) was not clean, it was just painted and was handed over to us. we did complain to management about strong paint smell and Mr. Nagaraj was very kind enough to listen and shifted to us better room the next day. Big thanks to Mr.Nagaraj for the continuous follow-up and shifting the luggage as well. Regarding the food, breakfast was very nice and was already included in our price. The in-service and also dinner - the prices were exorbitant and just to give a example - 1 plate of idly was around 350+. The dinner was 1200+ per adult and it was unlimited buffet, i would say the taste and service was ok but the price is still high. the ala carte option price was so high (comparable to idly price), hence people are forced to go with buffett option. Also the hotel staff was nice and providing lite transport facility to different suites in property. overall, Sterling hotel did not meet our expectations (in terms of price we paid) and we feel that it is overly lacking hygiene and necessary infrastructure for the price.

Services offered by both restaurant managers Yogesh and Chandra was excellent . Got us customized menu , absolutely fantastic taste . A must visit property !!

The hotel does needs conveyance for local travel. Hiring taxis are costly , a more frequency or a taxi auto stand would be great !!
