790 on George Backpackers

Very good location though it took me a while to understand they just used their address as company's name. ^^ But when you walk a little around you'll see that simply following George Street will bring you anywhere. So, it's also easy to find your way back. It's very close to Sydney Central (central station), it took me 5 minutes from my room (in 5th floor) including check-out procedure to get to platform 1! As stated, breakfast is available for free. Which is not very healthy (white wheat toast with some jams and the well-known German branded brown spread consisting mostly of sugar, palm oil and milk powder), but does serve the purpose. The staff even refills during the breakfast time (as I remember it was 6-9 am)! There is a lift, but sometimes it takes some time to get a ride. They keep a lot of stuff strictly organised - may you like it or not: e. g. which locker to use, fixed AC temperature in the dorm. In total I was totally happy with my 1-night-stay at this place. Especially since the room's rate was very fair - surely because they tried to fill the rooms, because it was Christmas eve. (But I also had the chance to choose another hostel which even lowered their rate down to 29 AUD (vs. 39 AUD here), but am happy to have chosen this one, because of the fabulous location.)

They place different garbage bins in the kitchen, but not even the staff members do use them the way it should (but threw all the empty toast and milk bags into the one for general waste). ...so did the other guests who I watched during my breakfast. The showers were also for free, but not very hot. (It was okay! But even the free public showers in Broken Hill had hotter water.) And the door to the bathroom had a very strong closing mechanism which made a lot of noise. They have some strange strict rules which are not very (broke) backpacker-friendly, e. g. it's not allowed to dry your laundry in the room. So I ended up wearing my freshly washed underwear during the night, but it was okay since I wrang it thoroughly. They also prohibit guests to place their luggage on the floor in the dorm. Since my two pieces do not fit into the (big) locker, I had to place them on my bed which left me about 60% of the bed's area for sleeping. But no worries; I had been through sleeper class trains in India... They send you a lot of messages. First it sounded well when they asked me to complete a form with personal data, so the check-in process was supposed to be done quickly. But it my experience it took exactly the same amount of time as it does in other hostels (checking passport, paying the deposit). So I found it even more stupid to see another email later that night which asked me to follow some steps to accelerate the check-out process. But could I have possibility had to do online which saves me from stripping the linen and bringing it downstairs to receive my deposit back? Because that was it and the check+out went very smoothly and fast. But no part of it could have been done online, could it? They offer only one sort of tea and no lactose-free or vegan alternative for the milk to eat the cereals.
