Very good

Overall, very clean and comfortable. I would certainly stay again if travelling solo for work.

The Vulcan offers basic but comfortable accommodation in a very handy location at the top end of the city, in Ultimo. Easy walk from Central Station, and ideal for accessing UTS and Ultimo TAFE campus.

Perhaps I did not see it, but there appeared to be no coffee/tea available as part of included breakfast, which is a bit strange . Coffee is available by order, but at additional charge. There is some delay such that one morning, when I was in bit of a hurry, I could not wait.

Great budget option for the city!

Great location, friendly staff, parking close by. Cool facade and easy to walk to the city. Room was really quiet and dark despite being on the street side. Breakfast was included which I didnt realise when I booked but was good for a hotel breakfast.

Room was quite small, but fine for one night. Bed not super comfortable but thats hotels. Air con was working which was such a relief as it was like 39 degrees, but it was really loud and hadnt been serviced for a long time.

Serious health and safety issues - neglect of the hotel hygiene. Bad customer service.

The receptionists were friendly enough although unable to do much about the issues we had with their hygiene and health and safety.

After a long 2 days of travelling we arrived at the hotel and , after showering, I lay in bed for 1-2 hours and realised I had been bitten. These were not mosquitos. Unfortunately I have been bitten by bed bugs previously so I recognised it straight away. The hotel staff did move us to another room quite swiftly but it was smelly - like a mould smell. The windows were unable to be opened as there was a sign to say not to open - we eventually managed to open a slightly as the stench was uncomfortable. We realised that the shower leaks terribly and just outside of the bathroom the patch of carpet had been replaced (just a rectangle Of about a 1x0.5m) that was clearly linked to the leakage from the shower (which had no sealant on the bottom). The rooms are also very dated and in the daylight you can clearly see the dust across the brown cupboards and units. There were handprints on the cupboard which is how I first noticed the dust. I wouldnt recommend this place for anyone who is sensitive to smell or is asthmatic. We have reported our concerns and complaints both orally in person whilst we were there, in writing twice via email too but have been ignored completely by hotel and management. We are now in the process of reporting this hotel to authorities for the bed bugs and unhygienic space.
