Authentic Khmer Village Resort

- Jacuzzi was cold and unusable (hotel management are aware of this). I - Poor communication: The hotel manager offered us a partial refund to compensate for the inconvenience with the jacuzzi but failed to communicate that they expected us to leave. Staff dont talk to each other and provide contradictory information (e.g. it took 1.5 hours until we were finally told jacuzzi temperature could not be changed). We were asked the same questions by different staff members and had to constantly repeat ourselves. - Rude management and unprofessional behaviour: We went into the swimming pool after we agreed to the partial refund and shortly after were approached by the other manager and a staff member enquiring about the situation. They had no idea about what we agreed with the other hotel manager 10min earlier. I didnt appreciate to have a long conversation in a bikini overlooked by two men in a slightly cold pool. When I pointed it out I was given a 5min limit to get out of the pool (very rude). A professional hotel would have approached us once out of the pool and fully dressed and would have been more apologetic for the disappointing jacuzzi experience and the miscommunication on the refund. We decided to leave rather then finding a solution as we felt uncomfortable and appalled by the poor customer service. - The resort was overall disappointing, it felt overpriced for what it was. Wood of houses seemed outdated, wooden walkway needed maintenance, rooms right next to walkway so little privacy and rooms were quite dark. It also wasnt an authentic experience as the property is owned by European management who didnt show the same level of customer service we experienced in other lovely, locally run hotels we stayed in whilst travelling in Cambodia. Also the property cancelled the booking after we left (said we didnt show up), assume to avoid a negative review. I had to contact booking to send me the review form. Imagine its not the first time theyve done this.

The villa was wonderful, spacious and clean. The outside area had a large pool and deck to lounge on. We often had our breakfast on the deck and it was magical and peaceful. The resort is spacious and well laid out so that it feels like you are on a tropical paradise. The main pool surrounds the restaurant and the ambience is truly magnificent. You would never guess that you were in a busy city. It is lovely and quiet. Finally, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. Fantastic resort and will definitely return. Thank you Authentic Khmer Village resort for spoiling us and giving us a wonderful and much needed break. I can highly recommend this accomodation!

This is a difficult review to write as the room and the staff that we interacted with were lovely. We were upgraded from a suite w/ a jacuzzi to a 2 bedroom with with a private pool. That was very nice. The rooms itself had good air conditioning, it was wonderful having 2 showers for our family of 4, however the doors to the showers were a bit see through and opened to the living room area which meant whoever was showering was at risk of putting on a bit of a show for the rest of us. Walking through the resort itself was gorgeous. We had to-go breakfasts both days we were there that were good and happy they made that accommodation since we had to leave before the restaurant was open each day.

The location within Siem Reap was not the greatest. We didn't have any issues but as we drove around siem reap, there are areas, like heading out towards the temples and maybe more central city that have cafes and walking sidewalk areas etc. This was in a very standard siem reap neighborhood which could make some travelers weary of heading out on their own just to walk around the streets. One thing that we come to expect with travel is paying what is 'normal' amounts for things in that given locality. Understanding that tourists are generally charged more for goods than locals, but I think this hotel took a price guide from a US or European city and said, what can we charge for X and set the price at that. For instance, the laundry service. Most places that we encountered charged by the kg, this place charged per article of clothing. We got our laundry done down the street - 3 kg for $3. The hotel was going to charge $3 for 1 shirt. They had sign up that said 'no outside food or drink' in the room. The restaurant prices were on the higher end (decent price compared to US city but high for Siem Reap). They had prices listed for all items in the hotel room if they were lost/stolen and actually had someone check our room as we were leaving to make sure we didn't steal anything - making the check out process take about 10-15 minutes. They noticed some glass goblets weren't in the room but we insisted we didn't have any in there to begin with, they believed us, no biggie but, not exactly a good way to end a stay.
