Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati to Bhalukpong via Nameri (Approx 260 kms/ 6 hours)

Welcome to Awesome Assam. Meet and be assisted by our representative at the Guwahati Railway Station. Transfer to Bhalukpong via Nameri. On arrival check in to the hotel Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Bhalukpong

After early breakfast drive to Dirang. On the way, visit Tipi Orchidariurm situated on the banks of the river Bharali, a place over 500 orchids, on display there are some rare species of orchid. Arunachal has largest range of orchids in the country. Then take a break to visit Nag Temple. Continue your drive and do not forget to keep your cameras handy as you cross beautiful waterfalls and get some spectacular views.

 

On arrival check in to the hotel Afternoon visit Apple orchard & Kiwi Farm (depending upon season), Dirang Monastery and Kalachakra Monastery Dirang is also famous for hot water springs where people take bath to cure skin ailments. Overnight stay at Dirang

 

Note: Every Indian tourist visiting Arunachal Pradesh has to obtain ILP (Inner Line Permit) at Bhalukpong border before entering the state against submission of photo identity card and two copies of passport size photographs.

 

 

After an early breakfast, proceed to Tawang, the Land of Hidden Paradise. On the way enjoy the beauty of Sela Pass (13700 Ft) a border line between two districts i.e. Tawang & West Kameng Tawang, Sela Lake a small lake, which remains frozen for most of the year. Further drive to 10 kms visit Jaswant garh War Memorial - a memorial to the brave soldier who single handily tried to hold of approaching Chinese from the pass during the 1962 Indo-Chinese war. Later visit majesty of Nuranng Falls where scenes from the SRK-Madhuri Dixit starrer “Koyla” were shot. Arrive & check in to the hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Tawang

Today morning after early breakfast, you will drive to visit high altitude lake called as Shonga-tser Lake, popularly known as Madhuri Lake located 35 kms away from Tawang near the China Border. The drive to Sangestser Lake is full of thrill and one can still see the war bankers that had been used during the Chinese aggression in 1962. Nestled amidst the pristine mountains and picturesque surrounding, it was formed in the aftermath of the 1950 earthquake. Prior to the earthquake, this piece of land used to be employed as the grazing ground for the cattle. The evidence of it can be seen in the protruding trunks of the dead trees from the middle of the lake. The lake has been under supervision of Army men, who have also arranged for a cafeteria nearby. Tourists can relish on the delicious Momos, Maggi‟s topped with a cup of tasty coffee or tea. Tourists can also take to trekking around the lake while enjoying the gentle lashes of the pleasant breeze around. You can drive further to Bumla Pass which is located about 37 km away from Tawang at the Indo-China border over 15,200 ft above sea level. During return take a photo stop at the beautiful PTSO lake Enroute (17 kms away from Tawang, Pangong Tang Tso Lake popularly known as PT Tso which is an extremely scenic drive with bird’s eye view of the township below). Later in the afternoon drive back to hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure overnight at hotel

After breakfast transfer to Bomdila (8,200 ft.) - the headquarters of West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh and also known for its Buddhist monasteries. It has a lot of attractions for the visitors for its cool climate. On arrival check in to the hotel Evening visit Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Ling Monastery (Upper Gompa), Bomdila Monastery Overnight stays at Bomdila

After breakfast transfer to Tezpur Then visit to Agnigagh. Agnigagh refers to fire fort or a residence amidst fire. As it was surrounded by fire on all sides, it was named Agnigagh. To reach the fortress, you need to climb the circular staircase. From the hilltop, you could have splendid views of Tezpur and the River Brahmaputra. Then visit Bamuni Hills is a popular tourist destination in Tezpur with sculptural ruins dating back to 9th and 10th centuries. Once you are here, you could visit Bhairabi temple and Mahabhairab temple nearby. Then visit District Museum of Tezpur was established in the year 1986. The museum provides an insight into the culture of the land. Some of the collections on display here include traditional textiles of Assamese, silver coins, copper coins, inscriptions, manuscripts and stone sculptures. Then return to hotel. Stay overnight in Tezpur.

Post breakfast, check out from the hotel and later take transfer to the Guwahati Airport for your onward journey.

  • Important Notes
    • Kamakhya Temple: Timings 08:00 am to 01:00 pm and 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm.
    • Arunachal Pradesh Hotels: Most hotels in Arunachal are very basic with limited amenities. They cannot be compared to hotels in Guwahati and Shillong.
    • ILP: An Inner Line Permit is required to enter Arunachal Pradesh. The following documents are required: Aadhaar Card or Voter Card for everyone, Birth Certificate for minors (if Aadhaar card is not available), and passport-sized photos for everyone. The Inner Line Permit office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • Bumla Pass: A non-AC Sumo will be provided for Bumla Pass.
    • Kaziranga National Park: It has different ranges: Kohora (Central Range), Bagori (Western Range), Agoratoli (Eastern Range), and Burapahar (Ghoraketi Range).
    • Jeep Safari: Timings: 07:30 am to 09:30 am and 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm. (Available from November to April).
    • Elephant Safari: Timings: 05:15 am to 06:15 am and 06:30 am to 07:30 am. (Available from November to April). Note: Elephant rides and timings are decided by the Kaziranga National Park Management. We do not have any control over the booking. Elephant rides and Jeep safaris are subject to availability.
    • Cherrapunjee Hotels: Most hotels in Cherrapunjee are not categorized as 3-star or 4-star. They cannot be compared to hotels in Guwahati and Shillong.
