Day 1 Guwahati to Shillong (120 kms/ 3 hrs)
Arrival at Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong: Arrive at Guwahati airport, where you will meet your driver and start your journey to Shillong. En route, stop at Umium Lake for a photo opportunity, capturing the serene beauty of this picturesque spot.

Explore Shillong: Reach Shillong in the afternoon and begin your local sightseeing tour. Visit Ward's Lake, a beautiful man-made lake surrounded by lush gardens, perfect for a leisurely walk. Explore the nearby Catholic Church, one of the prominent landmarks of Shillong.

Evening Market Walk: In the evening, take a walking tour of the local market in Shillong. This is a great opportunity to experience the vibrant culture of the region and shop for local handicrafts.

Overnight Stay: Return to your hotel in Shillong for an overnight stay.

Transfer to Cherrapunjee: After breakfast, begin your drive to Cherrapunjee, famously known as the wettest place on Earth. The journey of 60 km will take about 1½ hours.

Visit Mawdok Viewpoints: On the way, stop at Mawdok viewpoints to admire the stunning views of the valley. This is a great spot for photography and to enjoy the natural beauty of the region.

Explore Wah Kaba Waterfall: Continue your journey with a visit to Wah Kaba Waterfall, a scenic spot where you can witness the powerful cascades and the lush surroundings.

Sightseeing in Cherrapunjee: Upon arrival in Cherrapunjee, visit the Garden of Caves, a beautiful area filled with natural caves and waterfalls. Then, head to Nohsngithiang Falls, also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls, where you can marvel at the seven-segmented waterfall plunging from a great height.

Overnight Stay: Check into your hotel in Cherrapunjee for an overnight stay.

Start the Trek: After breakfast, embark on a day trip to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Start your trek from Tyrna Village, the gateway to this natural wonder.

Trek Through Lush Landscapes: Trek through lush green fields and cliffs, with the sun filtering through the thick canopy of trees. Pass through small villages and verdant vegetation as you make your way to Nongriat Village.

Visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge: On reaching Nongriat, witness the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridge, a natural marvel made from the roots of rubber trees. The bridge is over a hundred feet long and is a testament to the ingenuity of the local tribes.

Enjoy a Swim: Take a refreshing dip in the natural pool near the bridge before starting your hike back to Tyrna Village.

Return to Cherrapunjee: After a long and fulfilling day, return to your hotel in Cherrapunjee for dinner and an overnight stay.
Visit Mawlynnong Village: After breakfast, visit Mawlynnong, which was once awarded the title of the cleanest village in Asia. Take a short 10-minute trek to witness the 100+ years old Living Root Bridge of Riwai Village.

Explore Dawki Village: Continue your journey towards Dawki, a village close to the India-Bangladesh border. Dawki is renowned for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Enjoy the surreal experience of seeing the transparent river bed and take a boat ride to fully appreciate the beauty of the river.

Overnight Stay: After a day of exploration, check into your accommodation in Shnongpdeng for an overnight stay.
Visit Mawphlang Village: After breakfast, head to Mawphlang Village, known for its Sacred Groves and the Khasi Sacred Forest, which holds great significance for nature lovers. Visit the Khasi Heritage Village to learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Khasi Tribe.

En Route to Shillong: While traveling back to Shillong, stop at the famous Elephant Falls and spend some time amidst the pristine natural surroundings.

Visit Ward’s Lake and Shillong Golf Course: Once you reach Shillong, visit Ward’s Lake, a popular spot for a leisurely stroll. Also, explore the Shillong Golf Course, one of the oldest golf courses in India, known for its scenic beauty.

Trip to Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal pradesh

We, the four of us had a very enjoyable n once in a lifetime experience in the above trip, which, was very well planned for us by Mr Anirudh Das, which was exhaustive. The car was good and the driver (Read More) Boro dada was excellent, he, knew the ways, like, the back of his hand! He was courteous n respectful. The driver to Bumla pass, Mr Bema was equally good too. Breakfast n dinner was included in our plan, which, almost in every hotel, we were put up served us to our liking. Thanks to them. Now, coming to the hotels, we were put up in, I would say all were really very good, except for landmark hotel in shillong, which, was pathetic, with broken flooring n very bad housekeeping. The Danang, resort, on a riverbank was altogether a different experience except that there's a long walk, so, it becomes difficult with bags(our bags were carried by the lady employee, we felt bad for her. So, if, the tourist are informed about this n if they have to spend just a night, they can just pack minimum things. Overall, we, enjoyed our trip immensely. Our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Anirudh Das n his associates. Looking forward to next tour...with you. God bless. Drs kumbhats God

We are elderly couples, on recommendation of a relative we booked our trip through River Journeys. I think that was the wise decision. We visited Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in span of 14 d (Read More)ays. My wife doesn't eat onion and garlic which was informed to them and they in turn informed all places in advance. The car and the driver provided was excellent he didn't had to ask anybody for directions drive directly to hotels. All hotels were near, tidy having good ambiance even in Twang, they provided us with heavy jackets. The hotel in Dirang was situated on river banks and you have to walk on hanging bridge which is a novel experience. Overall the trip has been a memorable for once in life time experience. Thanks Mr Aniruddha for taking all care of us.

We visited N-E in 2022. Mr Aniruddha Das chalked out our program. Our package was with lodging,breakfast and transport. He provided well trained driver with local knowledge. Hotels provided by him we (Read More)re excellent particularly in Dirang. Our permits were timely arranged. We had no problem in visiting all restricted area's. Mr Das made our trip memorable. Mr Aniruddh Das of River Journeys organised tour to Kaziranga and Meghalaya for our group of eight. Aniruddh is a very experienced tour organiser and within a span of a few discussions he judged the k (Read More)ind of experience we would prefer. He organised our itinerary accordingly. It was very difficult to get rooms during the peak tourist season but he managed to get us hotel accommodation at good hotels within the quoted budget. He even got us a room upgrade at La Nicholas hotel without charging extra amount. We made a last minute change in Zone at Kaziranga National park. This would cost an extra amount but Aniruddh mase arrangements for this without any hesitation and did not charge any extra amount. He permitted us to add extra pick up and drop during living roots bridge trek, again without any additional cost. Breakfast and dinner was included in our package and food quality was very good at all the hotels. He gave us a spacious vehicle and a good driver. Our itinerary was organised perfectly and we managed to visit all the attractions at ease. We had a great time on this tour and would like to thank River Journeys and Aniruddh for the same. We had a wonderful two week trip through Assam and Meghalaya!
