20 kms to the south of Silvassa, Khanvel is a popular tourist destination among nature lovers. It makes for a perfect getaway for those who want to holiday the lazy way, not doing much, just being there, getting lost in the quietness of the valley and in the process relaxing and refreshing themselves with the proximity to nature.
Khanvel is an ideal place to visit throughout the year. In summers the temperature varies from 35- 39 degree Celsius. May is considered a very hot month, if you can handle the heat, May could be a good month to travel for you as the town is least visited by tourists then and hence will be more peaceful. Winters are pleasant in Khanvel with temperature ranging from 14 to 30 degree Celsius. The days are warm while the nights are cooler.
Air: Chatrapati Shivaji Airport in Mumbai is the nearest airport to Khanvel. It is well connected to most parts of the country, taxies from here can be rented for Khanvel at 7 rupees per kilometre.
Rail: Vapi Junction is the nearest railway station. Connecting trains are available to Vapi from the major centres of the country and regular trains run from Mumbai and Bangalore. Taxies and buses can be used hereon to undertake the rest of the journey.
Road: Khanvel is 25 kms away from the capital city of Silvassa, regular cabs and buses are available to cover the journey from Silvassa to Khanvel. Mumbai is at a distance of 120 kms, guests often prefer driving through to reach Khanvel.
There are budget as well as luxury hotels available for accommodation. There is also a government guest house in the area booking for which has to be made well in advance.
Bindraban Temple, Church of our lady of piety, Hirwa van, Island garden are places that can be visited while at Khanvel.
One can enjoy water sports here.
Depending on your interest you can either spend an entire day enjoying water sports or book a cab and travel to the nearby place. Places to be visited are Bindraban Temple, Church of our lady of piety, Hirwa van, Island garden. If you plan to stay more, you can also cover Dudhani and Silvassa.
