Patricia's Green In Hayes Valley, San Francisco Overview

Patricia's Green is an active city park situated in Octavia Boulevard, amid Hayes street and Fell street, San Francisco, California. It features a public space, playground, picnic tables, and an occasionally changing art arena. This park is one of the most popular outdoor spots in Hayes Valley. Patricia's Green name is taken from the name of a local activist Patricia Walkup. In the 1990s, she founded the Hayes valley neighborhood association to clean up the area after the 1989 earthquake and rebuild it to a public park.

Later, David Best, a native and renowned sculptor built a temple, which became a cherished centerpiece for the park. After ten years, the San Francisco Arts Commission commemorated this temple with a new and grand one.

Two open lawns are there in this long, slender park. Both the lawns are bifurcated as circular plazas. One of them is the play area for kids, while the other has an open area, resting benches, and changing public art. Also, there are various shops and restaurants alongside the park. So, there is a lively and enjoyable ambiance.
