Dynjandi Watefalls , Reykjavik Overview

Dynjandiis a waterfall situated in Arnarfjörður in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It is the largest waterfall in Westfjords. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful waterfalls thus it has acquired the title ‘The Jewel of Westfjords’. The picturesque view of the waterfall has garnered the attention of many tourists.

The Dynjandi Waterfalls can be reached through a smaller steep hike on an unstable path comprising a succession of steps and slopes. There are many accommodation services as well as car rentals too. Around the base of the waterfall, one can even visit the remains of an old turf house farm Bæjarhóll (Farm Mound) which offers a historical background of this spot. The Dynjandi Waterfalls have been protected as a natural monument since 1981. Though the pathway is steep, it is worth climbing as it provides beautiful views of the waterfall as well as the in and around scenery. While one ascends the steep pathway to the waterfall, one will find 6 other smaller waterfalls cascading down the moutain such as Háifoss, Hrisvaosfoss - Kvislarfoss, Úðafoss, Göngufoss, Hundafoss and Bæjarfoss.
