Day Trip to Bitchu Matsuyama Castle, Okayama Overview
The highest castle in Japan at 430 metres, and one of only twelve with an original keep still standing. On autumn mornings the valley below fills with cloud and the castle appears to float on it, viewed from a purpose-built platform across the gorge. About an hour from Okayama to Bitchu-Takahashi, then a bus and a walk. Not the Matsuyama Castle in Ehime, which is a different place entirely.
