Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple, Mount Abu Overview

The Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple is a Lord Shiva temple in Mount Abu, situated in the Achalgarh Fort complex. The temple is believed to have been built around the toe print of Lord Shiva who is worshipped here in the form of Shiva Linga. This Shiva Linga is believed to change colour 3 times during the day - red in the morning, saffron during the afternoon and wheatish in the evening.

Another  major highlight here is the four tonne statue of Nandi made of five metals. It is believed that this Nandi statue repulsed a group of Muslim invaders once by releasing millions of bumble bees on them. Achaleshwar Temple also houses a pit which is believed by many to be the doorway to Naraka, the netherworld.
